There are a lot of things in the world that are preventing us from moving; cars, remote controls, drive-thru windows, couches, chairs, lazy friends, laziness in general---the list could go on forever. Sometimes, it’s impossible to muster up the motivation to exercise for even 10 minutes. This is when secret exercises come in handy.
Secret exercises are tiny bits of movement that you include in your daily routine that help burn calories without making you feel like you are exercising. It’s easy to adopt secret exercises into your life if you add one at a time. A common example of a secret exercise is taking the stairs instead of the elevator at work. It increases your physical activity and adds movement to your life but doesn’t require a gym membership. This is not to say that secret exercises are meant to replace regular blocks of exercise, instead secret exercises support a healthy lifestyle by adding bonus activity when time is short or motivation is lacking.
If you are trying to live a more active lifestyle, try adding a couple of these secret exercises into your life. If you have already incorporated a secret exercise into your lifestyle that is not on this list, please

Secret Exercises
Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator.
Park in the far spot of the parking lot.
Instead of driving, walk to the corner store.
Walk your kids to school.
Use the farther bathroom at work or home.
Park and walk inside when visiting restaurants, post offices and libraries. Avoid using the drive-thru or drop off.
Join your kids: Play at the park instead of watching from a bench.
Move while you talk on the phone at home (i.e. walk, pick-up the house, do leg stretches, etc.).
Listen to upbeat songs while driving (you’ll fidget and dance without realizing it.)
Wash your car at home instead of at the local drive-thru car wash.
Jog to the mailbox to retrieve your mail.
After bringing groceries to your car, skip the shopping cart corral and walk the shopping cart back to the front of the store.
Have fun exercising in secret!
Enjoy Life!
