Today's post is a response to my New Year's resolution #5:
The more detailed version: Since the beginning of my pregnancy, running has been a no-go. At first, my speed decreased. Then, my weekly mileage took a major hit. Now, I’m at a place where I haven’t run since September. For lack of a better word, not being able to run sucks.
Once I realized that my body needed to take a break from running, I created a walking plan.
Truth: Walking outside in summer, fall and spring is great. Winter-walking on a treadmill is BORING!!!
I miss running.
I miss exploring new places, jamming to my I-pod, and being active outside without having to walk around ice patches like a 95-year-old frail woman.
It’s not in my nature to be stationary. I hate sitting still. Usually, I am the type of person that gets back from a run, sits for 10 minutes, and then feels the need to go hiking, play basketball or walk to the grocery store.
I am BEYOND READY to run again.
Not too long ago, I shared my 2015 running goals. I am excited to discover whether or not these goals are realistic.
I’m READY to start running in April/May.
I’m READY to work my way back to 40-ish miles per week.
I’m READY to train for a race.
I’m also being realistic.
I’m expecting setbacks, roadblocks, and all sorts of challenges along the way.
Maybe I will need to start from scratch and run in quarter mile increments or maybe my walking plan has prepared me to run 7 miles straight out of the hospital. I don’t know.
Guess what I do know?
I’m READY to be flexible with my running schedule, but I’m also READY for a challenge!
How ready am I?
Thanks to everyone who followed along with my New Year’s resolution thoughts and mucho gracias to all of you who emailed me and gave me advise for upholding my resolutions in 2015. This is going to be an exciting year!
In other news, I've been writing like a mad woman in order to have some posts in queue for when I’m busy doing other things in the not-to-distant future (you know, things like taking some time off to deliver a baby). Anyways, my point is that in the next couple of weeks I’m going to be sharing some posts that I am REALLY EXCITED to share. I even have a guest blogger! I hope you check in because it’s going to be fun!
