What makes the revelation of my inability to cook even worse is that I come from a family of cooks. Genetically, I should be able to hold my own in a kitchen. ALL the ladies in my family are incredible cooks. The men can cook too; my dad makes the best rhubarb crisp my taste buds have ever encountered, and my Grandpa was a cook in the Korean War. Yep, I have relatives who prepare better
meals than I do---even in war zones!
More than once I have used the smoke alarm as my kitchen timer. Clothing that I was wearing has literally caught on fire not once, but TWICE while I was cooking! Alas, it is time for me to face the facts; cooking will never be my forte. I was born to eat.
So, what is a natural born eater with an empty wallet supposed to do at meal time if no cooks are home? Prepare your own food!
As a healthy eating non-cook, I have developed several methods to prevent me from starving to death. The two things that have helped me prepare my own food are: 1) Having the right kitchen tools, and 2) Having my staple food items on hand. So, without further ado, I present to you my list of staple foods, or as I like to call it, Miss Nutralicious's List of Food Necessities!

What do you think of Miss Nutralicious’s Food Necessities List? Would you add any additional foods? Do you have a recipe to share that can be made using the ingredients from the list? Please comment!
**Note to the non-cooks: Make sure your smoke alarm has working batteries before attempting to prepare any of the heated items on the above list, and stay in the room if there is food in the toaster or microwave. This is important advice, Miss Nutralicious knows from experience.
